The President Vs Vice President Scramble is on September 18, 2010 - 1:00 PM Scramble. Cost is $25/person and includes dinner and prizes - 1st place eats steak and 2nd place eats hamburger. Sign up and pay by Sept. 10th at the pro shop.
We have just learned that Twin Lakes is planning to punch the greens again on September 20. This punching was originally scheduled for September 7th and 8th. Our schedule of events shows that September 21 is the second week of the Senior Men's Club Championship. The executive feels the current plans would be harmful to our club members for both the Championship and Net Championship competition.
For this reason, we have re-scheduled the Senior Men’s Club Championship. It will now be held on September 7 and 14. Greg Pidlaski has confirmed that we can have a shotgun start on the 14th for the second day of the tournament. The shamble which was originally scheduled for September 7 will now be played on September 21.
We hope the members understand the necessity for these changes and will not be adversely affected by them.
On September 14, along with the awarding of the Championships, we will hold our election of officers for the 2011 season. We will need to elect a Senior Club Captain, a Treasurer, a Draw Chairman, and 2 Executive Officers, who fill in for the other officers as required.

Letter to the Members of Twin Lakes Senior Men's Club
The golf season is around the corner. Your executive has met and is planning the upcoming season. Gary Smallwood, elected last year to run the draw, will not be returning to Twin Lakes this year. The bank has recommended that four officers of the club should have signing authority. These are Rae Langille, captain, Ken Ferg, treasurer, Lyle Lowenberger and Chuck Clubine. Lyle and Chuck were chosen by the executive to replace Gary. In addition to the above members Ken Lintott and Barrie Squires are on your planning committee. Barry was absent from the meeting.
The official opening day for the Senior's Club will be Tuesday, May 4, 2010. If conditions permit, the course superintendent, Paul DeVries, will announce an earlier start to the season and therefore the first available Tuesday in April will be an unofficial Senior Men's day.
As you are aware, the owners of Twin Lakes have decided that shot gun starts will not be allowed. We believe that the social atmosphere of our Senior's Day can be retained by continuing to mix and match foursomes so that we can meet and play with different individuals each week. Most of the games used in the past and a few new variations are planned. The preliminary schedule is posted on the SENIOR MEN'S page on the internet at: http://www.twinlakesgolfmembers.web.skysurfer.ca/seniormensclub.html and on the calendar at: http://www.twinlakesgolfmembers.web.skysurfer.ca/calendar2010.html
In order to facilitate using t-times rather than a shotgun start, it will be necessary to sign up for the Tuesday game by 12:00 noon on the previous Friday. T-times for Senior's Day will be blocked out during which time no Green Fee players will be allowed. The time period from the first t-time to the last will be between one hour and an hour and a half depending upon the number of players that sign up. A member of the executive will be present from before the first t-time until the last t-time to collect fees and explain the game. The scores will be entered as players finish and it is expected that very little time will be required to determine winners after the last player finishes his round.
The protocol for organizing Senior Men's day may be a bit experimental at first, but it is hoped that the sign up sheet will allow for some flexibility for a player choosing an early or later start, however matching different players and handicaps will be the priority in making the draw.
T-times will be posted over the weekend on the Senior Men's board in the washroom and on the internet at the Twin Lakes Members site: http://www.twinlakesgolfmembers.web.skysurfer.ca/seniormensclub.html
We expect that you will also be able to phone the golf course to ask for your t-time once it has been entered into their computer. If you can not make it for a t-time after signing up call Rae Langille at 250-499-0079. He will advise whether you need to also call the golf course to cancel your t-time and make available a slot for anyone that hadn't signed up. Hopefully there will be very few cancellations or additions.
The cost to play on Senior's Day will continue to be $5.00. One dollar will be allocated to the deuce pot. There are sufficient funds in your club's bank account to subsidize the winning players for this year. There will be a total of sixteen winners each week in addition to the deuce pot. The 1st place four man team wins $20 each, 2nd place $15 each, 3rd place $10 each and 4th place $5 each. Logo golf balls will be the prize for KPs.
The Weldon Steel competition will continue this year and will cost you $45 to host the reciprocal course player, which includes a cart seat. Lyle Lowenberger is handling this years events and he can be contacted at: 250-493-6437.
The Senior Men's Club championship will be held on September 14th and September 21st. The first round will use t-times and the final round will be a shot gun start.
The most improved player trophy will be resurrected this year. The BCGA method of calculation will be used for members that have an RCGA handicap on May 1, 2010 and will be calculated with your handicap used for the Club Championship in September.
Hopefully you will all support your Senior's Club this year and adapt to the changes to make an enjoyable day of golf and camaraderie. For those members not returning this year, join us on a few occasions to see and play with old friends.
Yours Truly
